Living with chronic inflammatory arthritis (CIA) affects peoples physical functioning but also emotional, psychological and social aspects that have a global impact on the whole life situation. People with CIA often have pain, stiffness, reduced mobility, fatigue and sleep disturbances as well as dermatological, nutritional and sexual problems activities. People describe struggling to find balance in their lives in order to be autonomous and independent. Pain and stiffness, especially in the morning, are major problems, affect their mobility, quality of life and ability to remain gainfully employed. The pain increases due to fatigue, stress and depressed mood. One of the most difficult symptoms is fatigue. People describe fatigue as significant, intrusive, overwhelming, uncontrollable and difficult to manage alone. The consequences of fatigue permeate every aspect of life, leading to a reduction in activities and self-esteem.
